About your state leader
Iowa Humane Alliance (IHA) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that envisions a state where all companion animals have safe long-term homes, feral cats are valued and protected, and euthanasia is no longer used as a form of population control. Our solution-focused programming allows our team to allocate our resources to the most impactful areas, affordable spay/neuter, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and pet retention efforts.
Realizing that access to affordable, high-quality spay/neuter is essential in addressing the companion animal overpopulation crisis, IHA opened their Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic in 2013. The team mentored under the Humane Alliance/ASPCA banner and became the first HQHVLC clinic in Iowa, offering services to pet parents, rescue/shelter partners, and individuals caring for community cats. We prevent thousands of litters from being born each year, lowering local animal shelter admissions.
Our other programming includes:
- IHA’s Pet Food Pantry, distributing pet food and supplies for shelter/rescue partners through the Goods program.
- Love for Pets, providing individuals in focused neighborhoods with the animal health resources necessary to keep their pets safe, healthy, happy, and in their homes.
- Iowa Trap-neuter-return Resource Assistance Program (ITRAP), providing caretakers with the necessary resources to implement humane and effective TNR practices for community cats.
